Merry Christmas

Wow Christmas came and went way too fast this year! I say that every year but this year it was even faster I swear. I just love this time of year and I am always hopeful that somehow time will slow down. We had an awesome Christmas though, I would even say the best one yet!

Michael was more excited for Christmas to come this year than I can remember him being in the past. It makes me so sad to see him grow up and I miss the busy smart little toddler that he was but it was so fun to see him remember last Christmas so good and anticipate this one. He talked about Christmas all month long but for the week that he was out of school before Christmas Day he talked about it nonstop. We heard about the finding of the pickle on the tree at least, not exaggerating, 4 times a day! He remembered that Mason found it last year so he got to open his gift first so he was so worried about it this year, and when he found it Christmas morning it made his day!

Mason was excited about Christmas, and his birthday, to come but unlike Michael he could concentrate on other things too. He got 2 sets of little Legos this year which made him so happy because now he can feel older like Michael. It made him feel very important to hand down his big Legos to Maddox. He is such a sweet thoughtful boy so it really surprised us when twice this Christmas he acted very ungrateful. One time was when he opened a gift of bubble bath and threw it down saying "I didn't want that" then once at my moms when he didn't get a Hex Bug like Michael. I know that he didn't mean to hurt any ones feelings by this because he is such a caring kid and he did end up liking the bubble bath after all so I am very optimistic by next Christmas he will be grateful for everything!

I purposely did not wrap any gifts until a week before Christmas in fear that Mr. Maddox would open them while my back was turned. To my surprise he left them completely alone! So I slowly added more gifts under the tree then somehow he spotted one of his and got it half way opened before I caught him. He was devastated when I took it away from him but he left the rest alone until we gave them to him to open on Christmas day. He was so cute when it was his turn to open a gift he would take it from Mike, throw it on the couch, climb up on the couch, then sit down and hand me each little piece that he peeled off. I was mad at myself for not remembering to take any pictures at our house and by the time we got to my moms he was pretty much done with opening them so I am so glad to have this one picture!
