Oh Christmas Tree!
I love Christmas! It is definitely my favorite time of year. I am so happy to have our Christmas tree up. I am usually really picky about how the tree looks and I will spend hours making sure that everything is in the right place. This year the boys really wanted to help me decorate it though so I sat back and bit my lip and let them do it. I really love the way it turned out! I did start putting the presents under the tree but the boys took one of the ornament hooks off of the tree and tore the wrapping paper to try to peek so I am going to wait until just a few days before Christmas to wrap the rest!
It was so cute how serious they were about putting the ornaments on!
This is Michaels little clutter. Normally I would have spread everything out after he was done but this year I left it alone and now I like it!
We have a picture of Michael helping Mike put the star on the top since he was six months old. It is fun to look at them and see how he has changed each year!
The whole time Michael was putting the star on I was telling him to give me a "cheese" so as soon as Mike got Mason up there he looked at me and said "cheese"! It was so funny.
There is the final product. Hopefully I remember to water it this year so it isn't brown on Christmas day!

New Family Photos!
I have wanted to get fall pictures for the last couple of years but we have always scheduled while the leaves are still green or after they had all fallen. So I was very happy this year that the leaves were still on the trees and were a pretty yellow color. I was very nervous about how the pictures would turn out though because Mason does not like his picture taken and is not shy about letting everyone know and Michael usually does every thing that he is not supposed to so he gets all of the attention! I am very happy with how these turned out! Deborah brought some Pez candy to get them to smile. It definitely kept their attention on her but Mason was too busy eating them and then asking for more to smile! In a lot of the pictures you can see the pink candy in Masons mouth or he has pink drool. I had a hard time choosing the ones to post (I had 350 to choose from) so I hope you enjoy them.

Happy Thanksgiving!
Michael's preschool helped the kids make a "Thankful Book" with pictures of what the kids were thankful for. When I looked at Michael's I was surprised at how good he is getting at drawing stick figures. When I asked Michael what he was thankful for he said, "robots, my family, and fireworks!" I don't know why he would be thankful for robots, I am glad that he is thankful for his family, and I have to agree that fireworks are pretty awesome!
A little after thought: While we were at my aunt's house for Thanksgiving dinner Michael told my aunt he was wearing a new shirt. She replied that is a cute shirt. Then Michael corrected her "it is NOT cute! It is cool!" Lately he has been so into only doing and saying "boy" things. It can't be cute or pretty it has to be cool or awesome or handsome. If a girl is on the cover of a movie he won't watch it. One time I made him watch Cinderella with me. We left it out on the table afterwards and one of our friends Conor came over. Conor didn't even notice the movie but Michael made sure that he knew that he only watched it because I made him!

Going for a bike ride
The other day Mike took a break from painting my moms house to go on a little bike ride with the boys. I just love moments like this when everyone is happy and we can truly enjoy the boys at this age!
It took a couple of circles around Mason before everyone was together and ready to go.
But they only got to the next house before Michael was way in front of Mason.
So Mike and Michael went ahead while I walked with Mason. He was determined to go as far as they did.
So when we got passed again Mason would finally turn around.
It's so fun to see how different our two boys are! Michael loved this little bike but would only ride it for a little ways and then got off and ran. I was amazed when Mason didn't ditch it until we got to the corner. Then I thought that I would have to carry it back but he only walked a few feet before getting back on and riding it all the way back to my moms house.
Mason literally did not get off of the bike the rest of the night until we left! Both of the doors were open because of all of the work going on so he would go out the front door, ride around to the garage, go through the back door and come back into the living room. He did that all night long with a few stops to watch t.v., while on the bike of course!

Happy Halloween!
We had to give Mike a ride to work at 4:00 a.m. and I was afraid that Michael would be too excited to go back to sleep, he did though. Usually when I wake him up for school he tells me he needs ten more minutes. This morning he sat right up and asked "Is it Halloween already?" When I told him yes he got right up. He was so excited about his Halloween party at school that he told me his stomach hurt too bad to eat cereal. It was so fun for me to see him that excited! I told him he had to eat three bites, because I new it was just his excitement, and after those three bites he finished his cereal! Then we got him ready.
I wish I would have taken a picture of him before school because he did look really good. He was twenty minutes late for school though because when I was almost done with the face paint the first time he decided to cry when I got too close to his eyes. So I had to wipe it off and start again. Then he cried again! The third time was the charm.
My bathroom was a wreck when I got done!
The whole preschool class sang a cute song for the parents. I couldn't see until the very end but when I did get to look Michael was sitting on the ground looking through his treat bag instead of singing with the class!
After the song all of the kids went trunk or treating to the parents cars. It was a lot of fun!
We were asked to decorate our trunks. I wanted to make a creepy spiderweb mess with lots of spiders on it. I didn't practice with the spiderweb stuff and it is a lot harder than I thought it would be! So I ended up with a spiderweb tube! At least I tried!
After Michaels getting ready didn't go very smoothly I really didn't want to fight with Mason over his head piece! I knew I had to try though. He cried for the first few minutes on our way to the preschool then fell asleep! He must have been tired cause he slept through the song and the truck or treat!
Michael with the pumpkin that he decorated at school. I thought it was so cute!
This was how I expected his make up to look after the party. It means he had a lot of fun! He told me that the Batman at school wiped it all of and then put it on Michaels hands. Hmmm, I wonder?
When we got home and Mason woke up he was still really mad at me! Here he thought he was hiding from the camera!
He absolutely would not let me get a picture! So I gave up and we went inside for lunch and a break from the costumes!
I decided to make Jack-O-Lantern grilled cheeses for lunch. Michael thought they were pretty cool and I think it might be a new tradition!
I was really worried about redoing Michaels make up. The second round went very well though with no crying! I was very happy with the way it turned out too! I just didn't want it to get messed up before I got a picture of him and Mason together so the whole way there I kept reminding him not to touch his make up. He did really good about not touching and every time he reminded me that it was not make up it was face paint!
I was so excited to get this good of a picture! I really didn't think it was possible but both boys did really well sitting there for me. The only challenge was that there was another family there at the same time using the other end of the display that were being really loud so Mason kept watching them, but Mason did really well with his costume the rest of the day! I did feel bad for him though because the eye holes did not match up with his eyes, he got used to it though and did fine!
After pictures we went to Smiths to see Grandma Tresa. Then we went to the Red Cliffs Mall for their trick or treating. It didn't take as long to get through the mall as I thought it would and it was a good way for Michael to understand what was going on. Until we actually started trick or treating he thought that there was a Halloween Man that was going to give him a bunch of candy! After the mall we were thinking about going to the Washington City Rec Center for their trunk or treat but when we got home to get our candy we saw that there was a lot of kids running around our neighborhood so we decided to stay home.
Mike stayed home to pass out the candy while I took the boys trick or treating. I was so happy that we could go in our neighborhood because I think that is much better than going car to car! Mason was ready to walk with us but he was just too slow to keep up with Michael, so he rode in the stroller!
Michael acted like an old pro! He knocked on the door, said "trick or treat", and then "thank you". He even remembered to bring Mason back a piece some of the time! I was so fun for me to see him be so excited and having so much fun! I want nothing more than to keep him this age forever! (or at least remember every moment)
I kept taking away Mason's suckers but he sneaked one past me and got it open himself! After going up and down two streets Michael told me he was done. I thought I got lucky so we headed back to the house stopping at the houses on the way. When we were almost there I found out the real reason he was done was because he was worried about Mike giving away all of the candy that we bought. After explaining to him that we needed to give out all of our candy so he could get candy from the neighbors he wanted to go trick or treating more!
We were happy with our ten dollar decorations from Albertsons and we got a lot of compliments on our house. Someone even asked to take their kids pictures on our lawn!
After trick or treating we went to my Grandpa Johnson's house for chili. On the way home Michael complained for the first time about his costume. When we got home he stepped inside the door, stripped to his undies, and went to the fridge for a big drink of milk. I thought we would have a problem getting the boys to fall asleep from all of the sugar, but they both feel asleep as soon as their head hit the pillow!

Carving Pumpkins
Tonight we did our pumpkin carving. Mike and I have carved pumpkins together since the first year that we were going out. We have continued the tradition after having kids and still really enjoy it. The only think that has changed is we do less pumpkins and easier stencils!
Both boys were really interested in the process. Mason stood there the whole time and watched Mike. Michael stayed close by and watched, but of course he couldn't hold still so he played dump truck with the garbage can.
I was really surprised that Mason was willing to help take the middle stuff out! He actually enjoyed it too. (except when a piece stuck to his hand then he got a little worried!) Michael wouldn't even touch it.
Michael "helped" me make Rice Krispy Treats today so he had a little bit more sugar than normal! He wouldn't let me get a picture of him so I told him if he got in the picture I would give him a treat. I think he over achieved the getting in part!
Our finished product!
A silly face just for fun!
Michael got to pick both stencils this year. I really do like this bat one.
Michael really wanted to have a spider one. I tried to tell him this looks more like a tick, but he still wanted it!
